Two Maoists killed in encounter with security forces in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Nov 11 (IANS) Two Maoists were killed in a trade of fire with security powers inside a timberland in Odisha’s Koraput region, the police said on Friday.

As per the police, on becoming contribution about the presence of around 15-20 Maoists in the Ramgiri timberland region under Boipariguda block of the ancestral locale, the Unique Activity Gathering (SOG) and BSF jawans were doing brushing tasks nearby since Thursday night.

“During the activity, the Maoists out of nowhere started shooting at the security staff, in reprisal, the security powers returned fire on the Maoists. Earlier today, the security powers tracked down the bodies of two Maoists,” said Pandit Rajesh Uttamrao, DIG (south western reach), Koraput.

“The trading of fire occurred for almost 15 minutes the previous evening. Toward the beginning of the day, during a hunt activity, bodies of two Maoists were recuperated. The character of the departed Maoists is yet to be known,” he said.
