Several years ago, I attracted a very loving, romantic relationship into my life with someone I thought I would spend the rest of my life with. ⁣ ⁣ Picture “The notebook” … but gay. lol. Yes it was so cheesy and I was so giddy with excitement every moment of our time together. He was so stinking cute & southern & we were super adorbs together. ⁣ …we were a secret to most people. ⁣ ⁣ It took me about 5 years and a lot of money + healing to truly realize why that relationship and all my relationships thereafter didn’t work out. ⁣ ⁣ The realization that I have never shared anything like this regarding any of my romantic relationships is my reason for sharing this and I know I am not alone and am certain this will be a mirror and maybe even healing for someone out there…. ⁣ Even if just one. ⁣ I’ve never truly been in a romantic relationship with anyone that lasted more than a year & a half b/c I never fully loved and accepted myself. ⁣ ⁣ I thought maybe the reason relationships didn’t work out for me was because I was “work obsessed”…but there was an underlying reason behind that. Work was simply a coping mechanism. It is through work that I have innocently derived my sense of self worth…something I still am present to today.;) ⁣ ⁣ Deep down I didn’t believe I was worthy of this kind of love. I didn’t think it was something that could endure because I didn’t see healthy examples or models of the kind of love I always longed for. ⁣ ⁣ I know today that these are simply beliefs and that I have the power to rewrite these stories in my life. ⁣ ⁣ And more and more I am waking up to more examples in my community that this love is possible. ⁣ I can have the love I want. ⁣I create it. ⁣ & it begins within me. First and foremost. ⁣ ⁣ I AM THE LOVE. ⁣ ⁣ Rumi writes, “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” these last few years have been a journey of self-exploration digging into the unconscious patterns that have run my life for so long. ⁣ Thank you to life for bringing me back to the truth of who I am as unconditional fuc%$ng love. ⁣ Today I choose me. I choose love.
