Full Name: Mohamed Ibrahim Nur Known Moalimuu or Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimuu, in Arabicم (محمد ابراهيم المعلم) (Born 15 October 1973) A member of the Media and Telecommunication Committee of the 11th Federal Parliament of Somalia.
A former spokesperson of the Federal Government of Somalia. Moalimuu was the founder of the Federation of Somali Journalists (FESOJ) and the head of Somali journalists from 2016-2020.
He was a renowned journalist who had worked with the BBC and Reuters during the most difficult period in Somalia in which dozens of media workers were slaughtered as he used to cover first-hand news in the war-torn city of Mogadishu.
He survived five serial suicide bombings in Mogadishu, and the last one was in January 2022 when a suicide bomber with explosive belt blew himself up to assassinate him despite seriously injured. He was airlifted to Turkey and treated. Militant group Alshabab claimed responsibility for his attack.
Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimuu also served as media advisor for several international organizations including Creative Associates International and Breakthrough Media.

While Moalimuu serving as the Secretary General of the Federation of Somali Journalists, Moalimuu had strongly campaigned for the freedom of the media and ending the abuses against journalists such as killings, arbitrary arrests, torture, and intimidation which sometimes had caused pressures from extremist groups such as Shabaab and also some members from the Government of Somalia.
Mohamed Ibrahim Nur (Moalimuu) is remembered by many Somalis for his daily reporting during the difficult period in 2006-2009 in which dozens of civilians were dying every day, emergence of the Islamic Courts Union and entrance of Ethiopian troops into Somalia to support the weak interim Government of Somalia and he was among very few journalists working with Western media in Mogadishu at that period. Moalimuu had also worked in local media such as Jowhar-FM based in his hometown Jowhar and Hornafrik Media in Mogadishu.
