Bacharach was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and experienced childhood in New York City’s Kew Gardens area, moving on from Forest Hills High School in 1946. He is the child of partnered paper journalist Mark Bertram “Bert” Bacharach and Irma M. (ne Freeman).
