Colorado teen dies trying to rescue friends from icy lake

A young person died after he dove into a frigid Colorado lake to attempt to protect three companions.

Dyllan Whittenburg died on Thanksgiving, only one day after his fourteenth birthday celebration, his family said.

Whittenburg’s family let CBS know that he raced to help his buddies who had fallen through the ice on Precious stone Lake in the Denver region Tuesday, however he became caught under ice in the freezing waters.

“From our comprehension, Dyllan saw there was an issue, and he just took off running from what everyone said and dove in the water,” his auntie, Yvonne Wenzel, said.
