Not quite a 10 year challenge but close enough. When looking back over the past 10 years, so much has changed and Clark has been through almost all of it. The first photo was taken a few days ago, December 2019. The second photo is from December 2011, only a few short months after I got Clark. Earlier that year, I walked into Rumford Pet Center. This was back when they had dogs in cages (they have since stopped that). I saw Clark and knew it was going to be very difficult leaving the pet store that day without him. At the time I was living with my sister and one of our good friends, Lindsay. I asked if it was okay to bring home a puppy and they were both ecstatic. Clark lived with me in three different places over the next 6 1/2 years, all in Rhode Island. In late October 2017, a buddy of mine (you may know him by ‘Nick V’) convinced me to give LA a shot, even offering for me to crash with him for a couple months to see if I liked it. At the time I knew I couldn’t bring Clark. I figured, I’d leave Clark with my parents for a couple months and by Christmas, I’ll know whether I wanted to stay or head back home. January 2018 rolled around and everything started happening with Ashley. I knew I had to stay in LA. My plan was to save up, get my own place by April that year and bring Clark out with me. I talked to my parents about it. They were beginning to get very attached to Clark. In Rhode Island, Clark had a fenced in backyard. He had other dogs to play with and not a crazy travel schedule to deal with. We decided it was best if Clark stays in with my parents and as difficult of a decision it was, I knew it was in his best interest. I still see him all the time because I’m lucky enough to go home every few months. He was the first pet I ever got on my own and I couldn’t have asked for a better best friend. #HappyNewYear
