SC Constitution bench to hear petitions against demonetisation

New Delhi, Sep 27 (IANS) A five-judge Constitution seat will on Wednesday hear petitions provoking Center’s choice to demonetise money notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 in November 2016.

A seat of Judges S. Abdul Nazeer, B.R. Gavai, A.S. Bopanna, V. Ramasubramanian, and B.V. Nagarathna, will hear the petitions against demonetisation. This is the fourth Constitution seat which has been comprised in the peak court.

In November 2016, Top state leader Narendra Modi declared demonetisation of all Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, as an action to control the flow of dark cash in the economy.
